Subject: Opportunities to get involved with the Jefferson County GOP

Fellow Republicans,

As we move into August and closer to what it going to be an extremely important 2008 for Republicans nationwide, I wanted to inform you of the current opportunities to get involved with the Jefferson County Republican Party.

First, and most important at this time of year, we need people to write letters to the editor to our local newspapers.  This is the single best way to get the Republican word out in off election years.  And we have plenty to talk about, what with Democrats in Madison proposing a $15 billion government-run health care behemoth.  If you do not have the time to write a letter but would be willing to sign one, we would be happy to find someone to write one for you to review, edit and sign.

Next, the JCRP Executive Committee has set our committee structure for the next two years.  Now, we need to fill chairmanships and appoint committee members.  If you are interested in serving on any of these committees, please contact us.  The committees are as follows:

Events Committee The Events Committee, which will be chaired by Jessica Olson, is responsible for coordinating all JCRP events, such as fundraisers, speaker series events and our annual Lincoln Day Dinner.

Grassroots Organizational Committee This committee will develop our grassroots infrastructure for the 2008 election.  The Grassroots Committee will build upon the current JCRP organization and ensure that we have a captain in each city, village and town in Jefferson County, as well as each ward in each municipality.  This could be the JCRPs most important project as we approach the 2008 election.  In order to run up the score in Jefferson County, we must have a strong grassroots organization.

Outreach Committee The Outreach Committee will identify demographic groups such as high school students or our growing Hispanic population that the JCRP is currently not reaching and begin efforts to grow JCRP membership among those groups and get the Republican message to them.

Promotions and Letter to the Editor Committee As mentioned above, letters to the editor are the single best way to get the Republican word out in off election years.  This committee will focus on finding Republicans who are interested in writing and/or signing letters to the editor to our local newspapers.  In addition, this committee will head up media outreach and find earned media opportunities.

Local Elections Committee The Local Elections Committee, headed by Craig Schacht, will monitor the Jefferson County Board and all local elected boards, identify officeholders who do not reflect Republican values and recruit Republican-leaning candidates to run for these offices.  A strong Republican presence at the local level will ensure a solid Republican base in Jefferson County for years to come.

37th Assembly District Task Force The task force will lay the groundwork for a Republican victory in the State Assembly seat held by Democrat Andy Jorgensen.  This group will monitor his activities and work with the Promotions Committee to tell the truth to the residents of northern and western Jefferson County about Jorgensens unimpressive record.  It will also coordinate efforts to build a district-wide grassroots organization that will re-claim this seat for Republicans where it belongs.

Please review these opportunities and let us know which ones you would be interested in.  We look forward to having you involved in JCRP and making 2008 a landmark year for Jefferson County Republicans!
