Special Meeting
Tuesday, March 21, 2000
Location: City Hall Meeting rooms
317 S. Main Street - Jefferson
8:15 a.m. - 8:50 a.m.
Attending: Brawders, Jaschob, Lewis, Schornack and van Lieshout. Staff: Olsen. Interested Party: John Foust.
1. Call to Order Called to order at 8:15 a.m. by President van Lieshout.
2. Approval of Minutes
Motion (Schornack/Lewis) to approve minutes of February 8, 2000 meeting. MOTION CARRIED
3. Election for Officers for 2000
Motion (Brawders/Jaschob) to elect Lewis as president, Christian as vice-president, Olsen and secretary/treasurer. MOTION CARRIED
4. CIA Audit
Discussed the sequence of events leading to a CIA audit. Will discuss this at our next regularly scheduled CIA meeting in May.
5. Highway 26 Bypass
Discussed history of bypass project.
Discussed the need for a bypass and the positive impact it would have on Jefferson. General consensus was that a bypass through the city would not benefit the city.
It was reported there is an organized group opposing the bypass which has circulated petitions against a bypass.
Discussed the need to support a bypass but not to select a preferred route at this point in time.
Motion (van Lieshout/Brawders) to direct CIA Executive Director Olsen to support the bypass and to generate community support for a bypass. MOTION CARRIED
6. Adjourn Meeting adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
