Commerce and Industry Association
Special Meeting
Tuesday, September 2, 1999
Location: Carnegie Building
305 S. Main Street - Jefferson
4:40 p.m. - 5:20 p.m.
Attending: Beyer, Brawders, Lewis, Morgan, Schornack and van Lieshout. Staff: Olsen. Interested Parties: John Foust and Jim Schroeder.
1. Call to Order Called to order at 4:40 p.m. by President van Lieshout.
2. Update on Highway 26 Construction
The downtown portion of Main Street will be open immediately for local traffic. The entire construction project should be completed by November 1st. It was reported that the businesses have been very pleased with the signage and publicity efforts during the construction.
3. Public Participation
John Foust read a statement thanking the CIA for its decision to follow open meetings laws and what issues may be addressed during closed session. It was explained to Foust that the CIA board meets quarterly, not monthly.
4. Adjourn to Closed Session Pursuant to Section 19.85 (1)(g) to Discuss Retaining an Attorney
Unanimous approval to adjourn to closed session.
5. Reconvene to Open Session
Unanimous approval to reconvene to open session.
6. Update on Police Facility
Schornack informed the board the bond was authorized at the last council meeting. The bids will be let in January. The police and water and electric departments are working together on the building plan.
7. Adjourn Meeting adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
