Commerce and Industry Association
Tuesday, September 28, 1999
Location: Carnegie Building
305 S. Main Street - Jefferson
4:40 p.m. - 5:05 p.m.
Attending: Brawders, Jaschob, Lewis, Morgan and van Lieshout. Staff: Olsen. Interested Parties: John Foust and Jim Schroeder.
1. Call to Order Called to order at 4:40 p.m. by President van Lieshout.
2. Approval of Minutes and Financials
Motion (Brawders/Jaschob) to approve minutes of August 3, 1999 and September 2, 1999 meeting and financials. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY
3. Adjourn to Closed Session Pursuant to Section 19.85 (1)(c) to Discuss Employment, Compensation and Evaluation of Executive Director
Motion (Brawders/Lewis) to adjourn to closed session. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY
4. Reconvene to Open Session
Motion (Brawders/Morgan) to reconvene to open session. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY
Jaschob departed the meeting at 4:55 p.m.
5. Chamber Update
Profit from Gemuetlichkeit Days will be approximately $1,500 and the car show gross sales was approximately $18,700.
Ballots for the chamber board election and the by-laws amendment referendum were mailed on September 27th.
Highway 26 opening is still on schedule for November 1st. Olsen has been in contact with Governor Thompson's office about a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Christmas Parade of Lights planning is underway.
5. JDC Update
Workforce Development Center open house was held September 21st.
JCEDC strategic planning session will be held October 13th.
6. Council Update
Police department facility bond was approved by the council.
Discussed the progress of the development of the Frankewicz property.
Senior citizen's center did not receive a state grant for funding. The Senior Center Committee has done some fundraising and that will be continued.
Developer of the middle school building has met with the plan commission.
7. 2000 Budget Request
Salary will remain the same but insurance benefits will increase the total amount requested by $450.
8. Update on Police Facility
Discussed when the building will become vacant. The tenants should be out by October 1st.
