Jefferson Development Corporation
Tuesday, May 18, 1999
Location: Morgan & Myers
146 E. Milwaukee Street - Jefferson
6:50 a.m. - 7:50 a.m.
Attending: Coffman, Dempsey, Fischer, Guttenberg, Hamann, Lewis, Morgan, Olsen, Pierce, Schornack, Thomsen and van Lieshout. Interested Party: John Foust.
1. Call to Order 6:50 a.m. by President Morgan.
2. Membership to the JDC
John Foust discussed his interest in becoming a member of the JDC.
3. Approval of Minutes and Financials
Motion (Schornack/Thomsen) to approve the minutes from the April 14, 1999 and May 4, 1999 meetings. MOTION CARRIED
4. Generac Warehouse
Olsen clarified that Generac did not want to work directly with Estella Ganser. Estella has accepted our offer and the closing date is May 28th.
Motion (Coffman/Fischer) to allow Generac to use temporary trailers during their construction which will be removed before the end of the year. MOTION CARRIED
Motion (Coffman/Thomsen) to grant a waiver for the 30 foot setback and then forward our decision to the plan commission. MOTION CARRIED
5. Open Meetings
Motion (Thomsen/Hamann) to write to John Foust and explain that we have tabled this matter and will take no action until we receive a ruling from the district attorney. MOTION CARRIED
6. Downtown Revitalization
There is a group that has taken the initiative to start planning and working on a plan for our community. It was suggested Olsen talk with both Chris Nash and John Foust in an attempt to work together. Olsen and Morgan met with Myers, Ellsworth and Ulik to discuss a marketing plan.
7. Prospects
Discussed Don Meske's operation. Olsen has made numerous attempts to help but Don has not shown much interest.
It was suggested that Olsen talk with John Didion about his business and try to determine his needs.
The (redacted) business which had expressed an interest in our North Industrial Park has decided to remain in (readacted).
The owners of the former Schweiger office building have filed for bankruptcy.
8. Milwaukee Delivery Service
It was suggested we discuss Milwaukee Delivery Service and the appearance of their property at the June meeting.
9. Adjourn Meeting adjourned at 7:50 a.m.
